August is national Make a Will month! This is a great opportunity for you to think about what your legacy will be for your family and your favorite charitable organization.
Losing a loved one is always difficult. In the days, weeks, and months of grieving that follow a death, families and friends are left to figure out what the deceased wanted their legacy to be. A will is one way of recording your wishes and sparing your family the struggle of dealing with your estate during this deeply emotional time. National Make a Will month is also a good time to consider funeral arrangements and living wills. All of these things help make sure that your wishes are followed after your passing.
A will or other estate plan is also a great way to strengthen neighborhoods, seek justice, and transform lives through a gift to Back Bay Mission! Your planned gifts to the Mission ensures that powerful ministries like housing rehabilitation, the Micah Day Center, and Bridges Out of Poverty can continue to serve the people of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. More than that, they make sure that we’ll be able to develop new ministries to meet the needs of our community.
There are many ways to leave your legacy at Back Bay Mission. A will is the most common way to make a planned gift, but there are also gifts that provide an income for you during your retirement, gifts that help you reduce or avoid income and estate taxes, and others. Our friends at United Church Funds and Planned Giving Marketing have helped us create a microsite where you can learn more about supporting Back Bay Mission through your legacy.
We hope you’ll take some time this month to consider how you will have a lasting impact on the world, on your community, and on the people of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Please consider making Back Bay Mission part of your legacy.
