In 2005, the Board of Supervisors of Livingston County, New York, endorsed the formation of Livingston County CARES. This collaborative effort between SUNY Geneseo, the city of Geneseo, and Livingston County exists to help communities and individuals around the world, including the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Since January 2006, Livingston County CARES has send more than 850 volunteers on more than 30 mission trips to help the people we serve.
And they don’t plan on stopping any time soon.
Ten years ago, volunteers from Livingston CARES met with the Board of Supervisors of Harrison County – where Back Bay Mission is located – and made a promise to help the people of the Mississippi Gulf Coast for ten years. On their mission trip this year, they joined the Board at the Harrison County Courthouse again and were recognized for fulfilling that commitment.
Livingston CARES also reveals that their Board of Directors had voted to continue the relationship. Livingston CARES will continue bringing volunteers to Back Bay Mission. They’re already signed up for 2017!
Back Bay Mission and the people of the Mississippi Gulf Coast are deeply indebted to Livingston County CARES and all of the volunteers who have served here. We’re especially grateful to the individuals and groups who have returned year after year.
