EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR: Back Bay Mission, a community ministry of the United Church of Christ, is seeking an Executive Director. The primary responsibilities of this position include serving as the visible spokesperson of the Mission and overseeing management and financial accountability of the organization and its 13 member staff according to the policies and procedures established by the Board of Directors. Effective representation of the Mission to constituencies on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and in the United Church of Christ is also essential. The Board of Directors of Back Bay Mission in Biloxi is seeking an Executive Director to continue its 91 year history of standing with, serving and advocating for those who are disenfranchised in the Gulf Coast, providing transformational experiences to individuals and congregations in the wider church. Candidates should exhibit the following qualifications:

Education:

Masters Degree or higher in social work, management, divinity or related field desired.

Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities of the Executive Director are to serve as the visible spokesperson of BBM and to oversee management and financial accountability of the organization and staff according to the policies and procedures established by the Board of Directors. Effective representation of Back Bay Mission to constituencies along the wider Mississippi Gulf Coast community and in the wider UCC is also essential.

Position Requirements:

Outstanding leadership qualities, with the ability to set priorities, generate constructive change, and motivate investment in ministry of staff and donors.

Good business sense with the ability to plan, monitor and evaluate budgets and programs.

Strong management skills with the ability to recruit, supervise, evaluate, motivate, and retain a top-notch staff.

Exceptional oral and written communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with all constituents.

Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously.

Ability to work effectively with volunteer Boards and committees.

Strong computer skills including proficiency in MS Office applications.

Knowledge of the United Church of Christ and its structures.
