Many of our guests come to the Micah Day Center with very little and may not even have important documents needed to thrive in society. Driver’s License, birth certificate, state-issued ID, and social security card are all crucial documents needed for obtaining employment, receiving any kind of services or benefits, and even finding a place to live.
For most of our guests, many of whom have to “start over,” the task of navigating the process to receive their documents is daunting and may even seem impossible. But thanks to Kirsten, our Micah Day Center Case manager, the process is not only possible but happens every week for many of our unsheltered friends.

In this video, Kirsten shares the how and why someone may end up at Back Bay Mission without these crucial documents, how the process works, what some of the challenges are and how she has managed to find workarounds for many of those difficult situations.
