Worship is an important part of church life, and a Back Bay Mission themed service is a great way to show your support for our work on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. We know that planning a service is a lot of work, so we’ve done some of the work for you: new worship materials are now available on our website. These materials are free for you to use. And, of course, you’re free to make any changes you would like.

Current materials include:

An Order for a Service of the Word: A complete service with a call to worship, prayers, and an introduction of Back Bay Mission. Every congregation has its own traditions, but this is a great starting point for a Mission-themed service.

An Order for Commissioning of Volunteers: A commissioning is a great opportunity to let the wider congregation know about your service at Back Bay Mission and a great opportunity for the congregation to bless your volunteers. This order includes a presentation, covenant, laying on of hands, and a prayer.

Suggested Hymns: A collection of titles and numbers of a few hymns from the New Century Hymnal that you might want to include in your service.

Bulletin Inserts: Three new bulletin inserts (in .pdf format) that you can use in any worship service. One insert includes information about mission trips to Back Bay Mission. The other two share stories about people we’ve served.

If you’re thinking about including the Mission in your worship, please let us know! We’re happy to help publicize, provide additional materials, and send you printed materials like brochures and The Changing Tides.
