A very happy Mardi Gras to our friends and family on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and beyond!
Today is a time for celebration before a season of reflection and repentance. Today is a time for parades and costumes before we take on ashes and austerity. Today is a time for overindulgence before a season of fasting.
But it’s also a reminder of what’s to come. No matter how hard things might be today, there is reason to celebrate. For the Lord will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wines, of rich food filled with marrow, of well-aged wines strained clear. Every tear will be wiped away.
That’s the say we work for at Back Bay Mission: a day when everyone will have enough. And when you give or volunteer – or simply share a humble blog post – you’re working for that day, too. Thank you for all that you do for us and for everyone we serve.
However you’re celebrating Mardi Gras, we wish you the very best! Laissez les bon temps roulez!
