Back Bay Mission, a 91 year old social service ministry related to the United Church of Christ and located in Biloxi, Mississippi, is seeking an Interim Executive Director to assist in the transition of executive leadership. This search is being conducted by the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors.
Rev. Shari Prestemon has been the Executive Director for 13 years and has recently accepted a call to become the Minnesota Conference Minister effective October 1, 2013. An effective leader, she has developed a multifaceted team that will carry on the day to day work of the Mission during this interim period.
The Interim Executive Director will:
- Manage a professional staff of 14 covering client and housing services, volunteer programs, financial development, and administration. Directly supervise 5 employees.
- Maintain relationships with core constituencies locally in government, business and partner human service agencies, and in the United Church of Christ with denominational partners.
- Work with local affiliated boards of directors.
- Provide mission interpretation in the wider United Church of Christ as needed.
- Continue the development and implementation of a strategic plan with staff and the Board of Directors.
- Oversee the budget and program established by the Board of Directors.
It is estimated that this interim position will be in place for 6 to 12 months, commencing October 1, 2013.
